The bardick is a short, stocky snake from Australia that is mostly active at night. It is considered venomous to humans, but very little is known about its venom, and bites on people are rare. It is a snake that is worth recognising and leaving alone.1

Leef in

Southern Australia, in three populations: south-west Western Australia, the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia, and western Victoria and New South Wales.1

It is an ambush predator that waits for prey. Its diet is mostly lizards (52%), frogs (31%) and mammals (13%), with some birds and insects. Eastern populations eat fewer frogs than western populations.1
