The Hong Kong warty newt is a salamander with brown skin and orange spots on its belly. It lives in Hong Kong and in the coastal parts of Guangdong Province. It is the only newt living in Hong Kong, which makes it special there.1

Small granules across the skin, and a skin ridge running along the back from the neck through the front third of the tail1

In the breeding season, the male's tail develops a white or bluish stripe that shows in dim light1
