Tityus silvestris is a small forest scorpion that lives only in northern South America. It is one of the smallest scorpions in its family, the Buthidae. Although it was once thought to be harmless, a sting has caused serious symptoms in at least one person, so it matters to doctors.1

Yellowish body with several dark spots.1
Tail and telson (the bulb at the end of the tail that holds the venom) are darker than the body.1
