The common cat snake is a rear-fanged snake found across South Asia. It is active at night and hides during the day, often in houses. It is an excellent climber.1

  • Yellowish-olive or pale grey along the back1
  • White or black-edged zigzag markings on the back, which may be connected1
  • A distinct pale Y-shaped mark on top of the head, sometimes black-edged1
  • White or tan belly, which can have a series of small brown spots along each side1
  • Total length around 91 cm, including a tail of about 18 cm1
