The Arabian horned viper is a venomous snake that lives in deserts and shrubland across the Middle East. It is a member of the viper family, and it bites to inject its venom.1

It prefers desert and shrubland, at altitudes up to 1,500 m (4,900 ft). It is found in the Arava valley on the border between southern Israel and Jordan, and eastwards through Jordan and Iraq to Khuzestan province in Iran.1
