The caatinga coral snake is a venomous snake that lives in eastern Brazil, south of the Amazon. It is large for its group, the coral snakes, and its bright red, black and white rings are its best clue. It is often mistaken for a more widespread coral snake.1

The white rings are about as wide as the black rings.1
The red rings sit between the triads. They are narrower than the triads but wider than a single black or white ring.1
Adults usually measure 70 to 85 cm (2.3 to 2.8 ft) including the tail.1
