The dwarf sea snake is a venomous sea snake that lives in the sea rather than on land. It is found across a wide area, from the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea to the coasts of China and Queensland in Australia.1

Bluish or greyish blue on the back, fading to yellowish on the belly.1
Has 35 to 58 deep bluish-black crossbands across the body.1
The crossbands are as wide as or wider than the gaps between them when young, but become faint in older snakes.1
The head is black. Juveniles may have a yellowish, horseshoe-shaped mark on the head.1
Adults can reach a total length of 74 cm (2 ft 5 in).1
