The Pinkfoot goliath birdeater is a large tarantula, a hairy spider in the family Theraphosidae. It lives in Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil. Young spiders have pink tips on their legs, which fade as they grow.1

Base colour is coffee brown in both sexes.1
Long, scattered orange-brown hairs cover the legs and body, with longer orange hair on the thigh segments (femora).1
Young spiders have pink shading at the end of each leg, which gradually fades with each moult.1
Mature males have a metallic 'wine red' sheen on parts of the body and legs.1
Males have projections on the shin segments (tibiae) of their front legs.1
