The Xingu River ray is a freshwater stingray that lives only in the Xingu River basin in Brazil. It likes clear water over rocky riverbeds. It has a venomous spine in its tail, so it is one to admire from a distance.1

P. henlei has a large white centre on its underparts, while this species has mostly brownish-dusky underparts. P. albimaculata has more spots above, and they are smaller than the spots on this species.1
