• A line of about 30 narrow bands running from the back of the head to the tail, edged with white and black and separated by brick-red brown zones1
• Two large black, slanted spots on top of the head1
• A dark stripe from the corner of the eye back towards the mouth1
• Grey belly, finely speckled with darker spots1

မကြာခဏ မှားတတ်တာ: Early researchers found it hard to tell apart from Montivipera wagneri using colour pattern alone. A later study found that its colour pattern is quite distinct from that of M. wagneri.1
