Tityus discrepans is a scorpion from northern and north-eastern South America. It is known as a serious public health problem in Venezuela, where its sting can be dangerous, especially for children and older people.1

Ten are considered dangerous to humans, because their low molecular weight lets them travel quickly through the bloodstream to the heart, lungs and pancreas.
