Brown forest cobra
MorsiThe brown forest cobra is a snake that lives in forests, thickets and wooded grasslands in East and Central Africa. It was once thought to be the same animal as the forest cobra, but scientists now count it as a separate species. Its brown back and pale throat help people tell it apart from its close relatives.1

Come riconoscerlo
- Most adults have a brown front half that gradually turns black towards the tail.1
- The brown parts often have darker spots or mottling.1
- The sides and underside of the head are light, usually cream-coloured.1
- The lip scales have dark edges, although these can be faint in some populations.1
- Adults from the Lake Victoria area and parts of the Congo Basin are black along the whole back.1
Spesso confuso con: It is often confused with the forest cobra (Naja melanoleuca). The brown forest cobra usually has a brownish front half, often with darker spots, and a light underside that may have faint banding.1
