The cockatoo waspfish is a small fish that lives on the sea floor. It is a relative of the scorpionfishes, and it is special because it copies a dead leaf to catch its food. It has venomous spines on its back fin, so it should be treated with care.1

It is an opportunistic predator that ambushes prey. It hides by mimicking a crumpled dead leaf or a drifting piece of seaweed, letting the current carry it, and feeds on small shrimp and tiny crustaceans that pass near its mouth.1
