The western bush viper is a venomous snake that lives in the forests of West Africa. It spends much of its time up in bushes and trees, where its bright green colour helps it blend in. It matters because its venom can cause life-threatening harm, and there is no antivenom for it.1

The belly is pale green.1
The body is relatively slender and the tail is relatively long.1
The dorsal scales are heavily keeled, with a swelling at the end of each scale.1
