The Bahia wandering spider is a large spider from the family Ctenidae. It lives only in Brazil, in the Atlantic Forest, and is usually found high in the trees. It is venomous, and because little is known about it, it should be treated with caution.1

見分け方

  • Dark brown on top, with yellow-orange bristles on the abdomen (opistosome).1
  • The underside is dark brown with four rows of light yellow spots.1
  • Body length up to 3.5 cm, with a leg span of up to 14 cm.1
  • Males have an orange band running lengthways down the middle of the body.1
  • Females have dark brown jaws (cheliceras) with yellow bristles.1

よくまちがえられるのは： It is very similar in appearance to Phoneutria fera and Phoneutria reidyi. The key difference is the anterior flat lobe: it is convex here, much more distinct in P. fera, and poorly developed in P. reidyi.1
