The Pinkfoot goliath birdeater is a large tarantula, a hairy spider in the family Theraphosidae. It lives in Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil. Young spiders have pink tips on their legs, which fade as they grow.1

見分け方

  • Base colour is coffee brown in both sexes.1
  • Long, scattered orange-brown hairs cover the legs and body, with longer orange hair on the thigh segments (femora).1
  • Young spiders have pink shading at the end of each leg, which gradually fades with each moult.1
  • Mature males have a metallic 'wine red' sheen on parts of the body and legs.1
  • Males have projections on the shin segments (tibiae) of their front legs.1
