Tsela ya go e lemoga

  • Its back is mostly black, with slim, pale cream markings.1
  • It has a pale 'cross bar' marking on the top of the head, just behind the eyes.1
  • It has no horns between its nostrils.1
  • Adults seen so far have been about 66 cm to 1 m long.1

Gantsi e tlhakanngwa le: It is often confused with Bitis parviocula, which also has no nostril horns and a pale cross bar behind the eyes. Bitis harenna has frontal scales with facets and lacks a subhorizontal ridge on the prootic bone, which separates it from B. parviocula. It is darker than B. rhinoceros and B. gabonica, which have paler heads.1
