The collared sea snake is a venomous sea snake found in the Indian Ocean. It has a slender neck and dark bands along its body. Its venom is not fully understood, so care is needed around any sea snake.1

Standard first aid for a suspected venomous snake bite is a pressure bandage, followed by transport to a hospital or clinic. The person should be monitored for at least 24 hours. A tourniquet, sucking at the wound, cauterising, or cutting the wound are not recommended.1
