The round ribbontail ray is a large stingray that lives in warm, shallow seas across the Indo-Pacific, from South Africa to Japan and Australia. It can grow to 1.8 m across, and it is valued by divers for its size and striking look. It has a venomous tail spine, so it is one to admire from a distance.1

Wie gefährlich ist es für Menschen?

Gefahr für Menschen: ErnstEin Stich gehört zum Arzt. Todesfälle sind sehr selten.

It is not aggressive and has been known to approach and investigate divers. If harassed, it can inflict a severe wound with its venomous tail spine. At least one diver has died after being stabbed while trying to ride one.1

Was macht es, wenn es Angst hat?

When threatened, it raises its tail over its back with the spine facing forward and waves it back and forth.1

Ruf immer zuerst deine Notrufnummer an (112, 000, 911). Das sind allgemeine Erste-Hilfe-Hinweise, keine ärztliche Beratung. Erste-Hilfe-Grundlagen

Bleib sicher
