This scorpion uses neurotoxic venom, which is fast acting and is absorbed quickly. Neurotoxins affect the central nervous system and can paralyse the nerves that control breathing, which can lead to death from respiratory failure. Symptoms can include pain, sweating, drooling, tearing, drowsiness, drooping eyelids, loss of muscle coordination, neck muscle paralysis, abdominal pain and increasing weakness.1

Eziokwu
The genus name Androctonus is often translated as "man-killer", which shows how seriously this scorpion has been regarded.1
Its venom is absorbed very quickly because the proteins in it have a small molecular weight.1
It needs warmth to grow well, and is most efficient when temperatures are between 29 °C and 35 °C.1
It keeps itself in shade to avoid losing moisture from its body, since it is easily affected by dryness.1
