Chaco golden knee tarantula
The Chaco golden knee is a large tarantula that lives in the grasslands of Argentina and Paraguay. It is known for being calm and docile, which is one reason it is kept as a pet. It is one of the larger tarantula species.1

Come riconoscerlo
- A large, heavy-bodied tarantula with a legspan of about 17.8 to 20.3 cm1
- Bright yellowish stripes on the legs1
- Dark black femurs (the upper leg segments)1
- Pink hairs all over the body1
- Very large fangs, with the top of the body raised to make room for the large chelicerae (jaw segments)1
Spesso confuso con: It is often confused with the Pink zebra beauty. The Chaco golden knee is significantly larger, and it can be told apart by its size and colouring.1

It is considered very calm and docile for a tarantula, which, along with its striking looks and large size, makes it an attractive pet.1
Males have tibial hooks, or apophyses, on their legs that hold back the female's fangs during mating.1
Males have longer legs and smaller bodies than females once they are mature.1
