Xibaar

1

Scales on the front of its head are sensitive to water movement, which helps it find prey, predators and mates.1

2

Its sensitivity to water vibrations has been measured, and it responds to low amplitude motions at 100 to 150 Hz.1

3

People collect it for food, for medicine and for its skin.1

4

It is a fully marine snake that gives birth to live young in the sea.1

5

Genetic studies suggest it may be several separate groups, with the Indian Ocean and West Pacific populations genetically isolated from each other.1
