The Atlantic banded box jellyfish is a sea creature with a box-shaped bell and four long tentacles. It lives in the western Atlantic Ocean, and it is highly venomous, so it can sting people. It is the type species of its genus, which means it is the example species used to define the group.1

  • Has four tentacles, one on each inter-radial pedal (a fleshy stalk between the bell's sides).1
  • Has four rhopalia, which are sense organs on the bell edge, each with a statolith (a balance structure).1
  • Each rhopalium has four simple eyes and two camera eyes.1
  • Fish may swim in among the tentacles without being eaten.1

  • Vinegar should be applied to the skin to deactivate the nematocysts (stinging cells). A cold seawater compress should also be applied.1
  • 離開水裡，把觸手拿掉（戴手套或用布）。
  • 熱帶箱形水母：在螫傷處倒醋至少 30 秒，求救，並準備好做心肺復甦術（CPR）。藍瓶水母和大多數其他水母：用海水沖洗，再用熱水止痛。

注意安全
