Dumeril's coral snake is a venomous snake with bands of red, black and white. It lives in forests in northern South America and southeastern Central America, often near water. Its bright bands are a warning that it is dangerous.1

  • The ring pattern varies between subspecies: some have single rings and others have rings in groups of three (triads)1
  • Medium-sized for its genus, with adults usually 50–70 cm long including the tail1
