The Sonoran coral snake is a small, brightly banded venomous snake. It lives in dry deserts and scrubland in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Its venom is extremely potent, but no deaths from its bite have been reported.1

Usually has only 2 black rings on the tail.1

常被誤認為： It is often confused with Micrurus fulvius. In this species the white or yellow rings are broader, there are usually only 2 black rings on the tail, and the first ring behind the head is red, whereas in Micrurus fulvius it is black.1

Its venom is neurotoxic, which means it attacks the nerves, and it is extremely potent. The estimated lethal dose for an adult human is 6 to 8 mg. In laboratory milking, the average venom yield was 0.12 mg (dry weight), with a maximum of 6 mg.1
