Hughes' saw-scaled viper is a small venomous snake. It lives only in northern Somalia, at the tip of the Horn of Africa. It grows to about 21 to 32 cm long, including its tail.1

  • Total length of about 21 to 32 cm, including the tail.1
  • Its colour pattern varies, but it usually has a series of pale, slanting blotches on a darker background.1
  • There are 24 or 25 rows of dorsal scales (scales along the back) across the middle of the body.1
