The lesser Asian scorpion is a yellowish scorpion found across much of Asia and in Australia. It lives in dry places with little plant cover and hunts small insects. Its sting is painful, but its venom is less potent than that of some other dangerous scorpions in its family.1

It feeds on small insects such as crickets and small cockroaches. Its pincers are slender, so it relies mainly on its sting to kill prey.1

The whole body is yellow to yellowish brown.1
The back segments often have irregular black to dark brown stripes running lengthways.1
It grows to about 4 to 5 cm long.1
Adult females are generally larger than males, and males have more comb-like pectinal teeth (22 to 28, compared with 16 to 23 in females).1
