The northern black widow is a venomous spider from North America. It lives mainly in the Middle Atlantic states, and its bite can cause a illness called latrodectism. Bites are not usually deadly for most people, but medical care is needed if symptoms get worse.1

The bite can cause latrodectism, a reaction to the venom. Symptoms may include body aches, severe pain, fever, inflammation, nausea and vomiting. These symptoms can last up to a week.1

Bites to humans are not typically deadly, except in infants and the elderly.1

  • Medical attention is needed if discomfort becomes increasingly severe, or if local redness spreads and is accompanied by severe pain.1

  • 如果被牠咬了：保持冷靜，保持不動，打緊急電話（112、000、911）或趕快去醫院。記住牠的樣子，有照片會很有幫助。
