The varicose wart slug is a large sea slug, a type of shell-less sea snail that lives in warm seas. It is found across the Indo-West Pacific, including the central Pacific and the Red Sea. Its bright colours warn predators that it is toxic.1

  • A large sea slug, growing to at least 11.5 cm1
  • Has 3 to 6 long ridges along its back, covered in small bumps called tubercles1
  • The ridges and bases of the bumps are blue-grey1
  • The tips of the bumps are capped in yellow1
  • The sole of its foot has a black stripe running along its length1

常被誤認為： Juveniles of the sea cucumber Pearsonothuria graeffei closely resemble this sea slug. They are white and blue or black, with a few large, yellow, thorn-like projections. Adult sea cucumbers are much duller in colour and much larger than the sea slug.1
