The pink meanie is a large jellyfish, a true jellyfish in the class Scyphozoa. It lives in the Gulf of Mexico and hunts other jellyfish. Its huge size and long, trailing tentacles make it one of the most striking jellyfish in its region.1

Their tentacles create a large fishing area, and their oral arms trap and digest several prey items at once. Smaller individuals mainly eat zooplankton, which are tiny animals that drift in the water.1
