The Aruba rattlesnake is a venomous pit viper that lives only on the small Caribbean island of Aruba, off the coast of Venezuela. It is one of the rarest rattlesnakes in the world, so it matters a great deal to conservation.1

Humpito
About 230 animals are left in the wild, which makes it one of the rarest rattlesnakes anywhere.1
Its colours match the soil of its native habitat, which helps it blend in.1
Only about 25 square kilometres of its home island remain undeveloped.1
Exporting it from the island is illegal, and it is part of a Species Survival Plan for captive breeding.1
