Haddon's sea anemone
Haddon's sea anemone is a large, colourful sea anemone that lives on sandy sea floors in warm waters. It is a host for several kinds of clownfish, which shelter among its tentacles. In Thailand it is also known as a food, even though it is protected there.1

- Its folded oral disc can reach 50–80 cm across.1
- A tentacle-free area of 1–2 cm surrounds the mouth.1
- The tentacles are yellowish or tan, with tips that are green, yellow or grey, and rarely blue or pink.1
- Short and long tentacles alternate around the edge of the disc.1
- The column is usually the same colour as the body, so its small bumps are hard to see.1

Humpito
It is home to six species of clownfish, including the Saddleback and Clark's anemonefish.1
On islands such as Ko Samui and Ko Pha-ngan, it is used in a seasonal dish called Kaeng kua, even though it is a protected animal in Thailand.1
In Thailand it is called Hed lub, meaning 'bob up and down mushroom', because it looks like a mushroom that pops up and down.1
Juvenile Dascyllus trimaculatus also live among its tentacles.1
Several other animals, such as a porcelain crab and squat shrimp, live with it without clearly benefiting it.1
