Smooth-scaled death adder
The smooth-scaled death adder is a venomous snake found in Southeast Asia and Oceania, including Papua New Guinea and parts of Indonesia. Despite its name, it is not a viper like most snakes called adders. It lies in wait for fast-moving prey such as birds and small mammals.1
