The zebra lionfish is a striped marine fish that lives in tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific. It rests on the seabed with its large, banded fins spread out like fans. Its back spines are venomous, so it should be left alone.1

Group hunters sometimes blow jets of water at prey, a behaviour also seen in the invasive red lionfish in the Caribbean.1

Zebra lionfish were once thought to hunt alone, but they have been seen living and hunting in groups of two or three, both in the wild and in a laboratory.1
