The blue-striped nettle grub is the spiny green caterpillar of a moth. It lives in parts of India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia, and it is a minor pest of many crops. It is also known as the nettle caterpillar.1

The larva is pale green, whitish or bright yellowish green on its back.1
Three green bands run the length of the body.1
It has short spiny bumps along the sides, and the spines at each end are tipped with red.1
The cocoon is purple brown.1
The adult moth has pale green forewings with reddish-brown markings, and the female has a wider reddish-brown stripe on the thorax.1
