Tree bumblebee
The tree bumblebee is a bumblebee that lives across much of Europe and northern Asia. It has spread to Great Britain, Ireland and Iceland since the start of the twenty-first century. It often nests near people and can reach flowers in places many other bees do not.1

Xibaar
Queens can mate with more than one male, which is unusual for bumblebees, and a female may mate up to 6 times.1
Because of multiple mating, sisters in a colony may have different fathers.1
The species has a symbiotic relationship with phoretic mites, which it carries around and which probably feed on mushrooms or nest parasites.1
Within a colony, a worker's sister is about 75% genetically related to her, while a brother is about 25% related.1
The first British sighting was on 17 July 2001 near the village of Landford in Wiltshire.1
A nest can hold 150 workers or more, and some authorities say up to 400.1
