The dark fishing spider is a large brown spider from the United States and Canada. It lives mostly in wooded areas, where it spends much of its time up in trees. It is a 'fishing' spider because of its family, but it is better known for living in trees.1

  • Several chevron (V-shaped) markers on the body1
  • Lighter stripes around the legs1
  • Legs banded with brown or black on the upper segments, and reddish-brown or black on the lower segments1
