The crown cone is a sea snail that lives in warm western Atlantic waters. It is a predator, and its sting can injure or kill people, so it is one to treat with great care. It is known to science for its unusually complex venom.1

It is the most potent known blocker of acetylcholine receptors in the vertebrate brain, a receptor type with a very high affinity for nicotine.
