Eziokwu
The spiders communicate by tapping their front legs on the sand. This seismic signalling is called drumming.1
Males may be attacked and killed by females if their drumming signal is too much like that of prey.1
Males can travel more than 50 metres in one night while searching for a mate.1
Each spider has eight eyes arranged to give a full panoramic view of its surroundings, which is unusual for spiders at night.1
Burrows can be up to 40 cm long and 25 cm deep, and their shape keeps them cooler than the surface.1
Females live about 6 months, while males live only 1 to 2 months.1
