Its head is dark green, and the rest of its body is yellowish green.1
Males have a reddish-orange stripe along the side of the head and body, and a rusty red-orange tail. Females lack these markings.1
Juveniles are brightly coloured, and the males' head stripe is much more prominent.1
Adults reach about 36 to 41 cm long, with a triangular head that is clearly distinct from the neck.1

よくまちがえられるのは： It is often confused with the white-lipped pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris), the Trimeresurus septentrionalis and the Trimeresurus insularis. Salazar's pit viper has more teeth in its lower and upper jaw, a reddish-orange head stripe in males, and a smaller hemipenis (the male reproductive organ).1

データ

The house of Slytherin at Hogwarts is shown with a snake and linked to the colour green, which is why this snake was named after him.1

Two specimens of this species had been in the Natural History Museum of Denmark since they were collected by a Danish naturalist between 1811 and 1816. They had been wrongly labelled as white-lipped pit vipers.1

Pit vipers in the Trimeresurus genus look so alike that they are hard to tell apart in the field, so their true number may be higher than known.1

It was first found in 2019 during a reptile expedition to the Eastern Himalayas, and it was the fifth new reptile species found in Arunachal Pradesh that year.1
