This scorpion uses neurotoxic venom, which is fast acting and is absorbed quickly. Neurotoxins affect the central nervous system and can paralyse the nerves that control breathing, which can lead to death from respiratory failure. Symptoms can include pain, sweating, drooling, tearing, drowsiness, drooping eyelids, loss of muscle coordination, neck muscle paralysis, abdominal pain and increasing weakness.1
