The forest night adder is a venomous snake found in western, central and eastern Africa. Unlike many snakes with 'night' in their name, it is active during the day, and it mostly lives on the ground in rainforest near water.1

This snake is mostly found in pristine rainforest, where very little light reaches the forest floor. It tends to live near water in swampy areas. In the Atewa Range Forest Reserve in Ghana, it has been found at heights of up to 670 m (2,200 ft).1
