The Milos viper is a venomous snake found only on a few small islands in the Cyclades, in the Aegean Sea off Greece. It is a rare animal, and it is special because it has adapted to eating birds and lizards rather than the rodents found elsewhere.1

Adults feed mainly on passerine birds, which are perching songbirds. Young vipers under 35 cm feed mainly on Milos wall lizards and European copper skinks. Because there are no native rodents on the western Cyclades, the snakes have adapted to eat birds and lizards.1
