The Asian vine snake is a slender snake that lives in trees across Southern and Southeast Asia. It is rear-fanged and mildly venomous, but it is not considered a threat to humans. Its long, thin body and pointed snout make it easy to recognise.1

  • Extremely slender body1
  • Long, pointed snout that projects forward, more than twice as long as the eye1
  • Colour ranges from light brown to dull yellow-green, and often a startling fluorescent green1
  • Adults can reach 1.8 m in total length, with a tail about 0.6 m long1
  • Active during the day (diurnal)1

Ñu ngi koy faral di jaxasoo ak: It looks very much like South American vine snakes. The two are not closely related, and the resemblance comes from convergent evolution, where unrelated animals develop similar features.1
