The Brazilian red and white tarantula is a large spider with striking white-striped legs and reddish hairs on its abdomen. It is native to Brazil, where it lives in tropical forests and savannahs. It is popular with tarantula keepers because of its beautiful colours.1

  • Beige to grey front body (prosoma)1
  • Reddish hairs on the rear body (opisthosoma)1
  • Large, with a diagonal leg span of about 15–17 cm1
  • After its final moult, the male is duller in colour and has longer legs, along with mating hooks on its pedipalps and tibia1

常被誤認為： It was once treated as Vitalius cristatus, but that identification was based on misidentifications. It was first described by Günter Schmidt in 2004, and its genus has since changed between Vitalius and Nhandu.1
