Red-headed mouse spider
咬The red-headed mouse spider is a burrowing spider found across mainland Australia. It lives in open forest and desert shrubland, and the male has a bright red head. It is a venomous spider that people meet in the wild, so it helps to know what it looks like.1
怎麼認出牠
- Females are about 35 mm long, stout and short-legged, and mostly dark brown to black. Their jaws are sometimes red-tinged.1
- Males are about 15 mm long, with longer, thinner legs. The head and jaws are bright red.1
- The male's abdomen (rear body) is gunmetal blue to black.1
常被誤認為： It is often confused with M. insignis. Experts cannot reliably tell the two apart from the original description of the species.1
