The Benguela compass jelly is a jellyfish that lives in the southeastern Atlantic Ocean, along the western coast of South Africa. It is part of a group often called sea nettles, and its tentacles can give a painful sting.1

常被误认为： It has often been confused with C. hysoscella, a closely related jellyfish that is quite similar in appearance. C. hysoscella is now known to live only in the northeast Atlantic Ocean, and recent studies separate the two species using differences in their shape and genetics. Two other southeast Atlantic species, C. africana and C. agulhensis, were also separated in the same way.1
