Cameroon red baboon spider
The Cameroon red baboon spider is a large tarantula that digs burrows at ground level in the rainforests of Cameroon, in West Africa. It is one of the few spiders that can swim, and it can make a loud velcro-like rasping sound to warn off threats.1

It is one of the only spiders known to swim, and it will sometimes dive to catch fish.1
Most spiderlings kill each other for food, but some have been found sharing food with their siblings.1
Its fangs point downwards and work like pickaxes rather than pincers.1
During a moult it lies on its back, weak and dehydrated, and is very vulnerable to animals that would normally be its prey.1
After moulting it avoids eating for about a week so its new fangs can harden.1
It does not spin webs. It spins only a little silk, used for egg sacs and to line its burrows.1

Nokorɛ: They do not make webs. They hunt at night and take whatever prey they find.1
