Western bush viper
The western bush viper is a venomous snake that lives in the forests of West Africa. It spends much of its time up in bushes and trees, where its bright green colour helps it blend in. It matters because its venom can cause life-threatening harm, and there is no antivenom for it.1

Its venom can lead to major systemic envenoming, which means the effects spread through the whole body. Other effects include shock, blood loss due to coagulopathy (the blood cannot clot properly), and renal failure (kidney failure).1
