The acuminate bush viper is a tree-dwelling snake with long, sharp-pointed scales along its back. It is venomous, like all vipers, and lives in the forests of western Uganda. It is a close relative of the bush viper Atheris hispida.1

Its rostral shield has two suprarostrals, where A. hispida has three.1
